IBMC student realizes her dream of publishing a book which will soon be released.

A year ago Tannii Ashbaugh enrolled in the massage program at IBMC after her friend, a massage therapist, encouraged her to do so.  This action was the catalyst that changed her future and allowed her to achieve what was perceived as the “impossible” by her primary school teachers.  Tannii battled Dyslexia most of her life and has had to overcome many difficulties and negative assertions pertaining to her lack of learning abilities, at the expense of her self-esteem and confidence.  “To cope with my disability I began reading and writing poetry in addition to studying words in the dictionary. This is when my true interest in writing began,” stated Ms. Ashbaugh.

When Tannii began her program at IBMC she found that she was supported by all of her instructors from the first day of class. They offered her assistance in her organizational and prioritizing skills in addition to helping her with her overall focus.  While studying she took a position as a maid and found herself dreaming up the beginnings of a story.  The story grew when she began sharing her ideas with her friend Jamie Salazar. Together they collaborated in creating a book, From the blood of my Father which was picked up by a major publisher and is to be released in the near future.

Tannii would like to thank everyone at IBMC who have offered support throughout her process of writing the book.  “I was empowered, and gained the confidence I needed by the many instructors at IBMC, to follow my dream of publishing a book.  In fact Jamie and I are dedicating the book to those who have trusted and supported us.    The vision statement of Caring individuals Changing lives at IBMC really holds true”, stated Ms. Ashbaugh.
