Personal Training Employment Opportunities are Strong with IBMC College and D1 Sports Training Partnership
Locally-owned IBMC College and D1 Sports Training in Colorado Springs, CO have joined forces to provide IBMC’s Personal Training Degree and diploma seekers with the opportunity to complete their externship at D1 Sports Training facility, and obtain potential career placement with the organization after graduation. *
“This partnership is incredibly beneficial. As a Division I, state-of-the-art athletic training facility, D1 Sports Training will offer enhanced hands-on learning and on-the-job experiences to IBMC College’s Personal Fitness Training student externs. This a win-win in helping our students grow in the field; it also allows this local employer to find out if the skilled externs would be compatible additions to the D1 Team,” Diana Gunderson, Vice President of Education at IBMC College, explained.
The personal training externship component of the partnership will begin on June 13th and includes D1 Sports Training executing the group/boot camp module. D1 will take on the responsibility of eighty hours of the one hundred and twenty hour externship through an active classroom and a hands-on practical approach through simulation, role play, program design and field instruction from Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists. The remaining forty hours of the externship will be conducted through on-site experiences at the IBMC College campus-level, or through a potential dual externship with an outside organization.
Keeping in-line with the objective of enabling student success from start to finish, IBMC College’s Career Services Placement Department will continue to mentor personal training externs on professional development tactics, while D1’s General Manager, Operations Manager and Fitness Manager will work closely with IBMC’s student externs on interviewing preparation and additional career development skills to increase their odds of being hired within the company, upon graduation.
