As a cosmetology instructor, I am deeply satisfied by being able to teach others my passion for the field. Because of this, I work hard to help my students work through any trials or tribulations that come up which could otherwise prevent them from achieving their goals. After all, we make the most of our lives by the dedication and efforts we put in to get to the next stage. Family time is very important to me, so spending time with my kids is a priority. We love to go camping, watch movies, do crafts, travel, cooking, entertaining, and just about anything else as long as we are together!

I know that when I send them out into the workforce, they will be prepared and successful. In my spare time: I love spending time with my family, playing volleyball and watching movies.

I was lucky enough to learn about IBMC through a colleague who happened to teach here. I began as an adjunct instructor and eventually was hired on as a full-time faculty member. I have been an instructor at all of our IBMC campuses, and I feel that IBMC is a good fit for me! I hope that students benefit from my positive energy in the classroom and the encouragement I provide them. My favorite pastimes are gardening, cooking and brewing.

I've always wanted to be a teacher. I love to watch and help people learn. I love the ""ah-ha"" moments! I also enjoy IBMC because our classes are smaller, which enables me to get to know my students more personally. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading and relaxing. I also enjoy spending time with my family!

I think my students are motivated by seeing my success as a graduate and that if you work hard and apply the things that you learn here at IBMC you can accomplish your dreams. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my husband, and we are big into cruising. I enjoy visiting natural parks, hiking, backpacking, golfing, baking (students love my chocolate covered strawberry cookies) and spending time with family and friends.

This is the second time that I have worked for IBMC. Originally I worked for IBMC when they first opened the Cheyenne Campus. I had the privilege of assisting in setting up the original campus in there. After about 4 years but came back to the campus and it was like coming home. My long term goal was to be a teacher. As a RN, you are always teaching patients and while that is very satisfying you do not get to see that "Ah-hah" moment when everything comes together. I wanted and still want to see that moment when everything comes together for the student. That is more rewarding than words can describe. In my spare time, I really enjoy reading, nothing is better than a good book. I am also picking up sewing again because I have always found it so relaxing.

While practicing law in Santa Rosa, California, I started working as a Dean and English instructor at a career college. I came to the realization my passion was in education and after returning to Colorado in 1999 I responded to a newspaper ad for a Business Program Supervisor at IBMC Fort Collins. And lo and behold began my adventure with IBMC. You may not know: That I compete in long distance motorcycle adventures -- for example: 48 states in less than 10 days, 1500 miles in less than 24 hours. I am also a Corvette fanatic and currently have a 2003 red, red, red, C5 Z06. I collect hand-coiled Pueblo pottery from the southwest, and my wife and I enjoy trips to Santa Fe to add to the collection and to visit their great restaurants.

I love sharing my experiences and helping my students navigate through the wonderful world of medicine. I also love quilting, crafting, scrapbooking, reading, camping, hiking and being a busy mom with teenagers.

I knew the college had the smaller class size I enjoyed and the close working relationship between the students and faculty that larger colleges don't have. I motivate my students by emphasizing how they will use the information we are learning in their everyday life. If the students are able to apply the information, they will remember it. I"m also one of their biggest cheerleaders. I love to share in my students" successes! Outside of my classroom, I enjoy gardening.

I was encouraged by my fellow colleagues and peers while practicing in the medical clinic to try my hand at teaching as (according to others) I was very good at precepting medical students and first and second year residents and did a thorough job at explaining things in simple-to-understand terms. I motivate students by getting to know them and their names and getting them excited about their fields of choice by sharing on-the-job stories with them that are both educational and entertaining! I motivate my students with reminders that they have been chosen to share their caring and service orientated philosophies with others in the field of therapeutic massage.  It is a very important job and the student owes it to themselves to be the best that they can be. I also remind them that it is my job to assist them in any way possible to help make their educational career a success. I am a mountain woman with interests that reflect my love of nature. I enjoy hiking in Rocky Mountain Park. There are still five out of 150 lakes that I need to reach before I have accomplished my goal of hiking to all of those beautiful mountain lakes. I help my students to succeed by listening to them and helping them when they need extra encouragement. I have had extensive experience with business and computers while serving 20 years as a member of the Air Force. Although I enjoyed working with computers, I wanted the opportunity to help individuals bring about a wonderful change to their life and family. I felt that IBMC provided me the best opportunity to use my passion, teaching, and my desire to make a difference in this world and apply it in a setting that is personal and caring. I believe that to motivate my students I must first get to know them as they attend my classes. It is crucial to help each of them understand that they are not just a number, but a complex and interesting individual who has made the most important, difficult and exciting decision of their life, one that will bring about a wonderful change to them and their families. You may not know: That I love just about anything outdoors. I have climbed 5 Fourteeners, have been part of a team of 10 who ran the 200 mile Wild West Relay, ran the 6.6 mile Bolder Boulder in 54 minutes and the Garden of the Gods and have done a triathlon. I also love fishing, camping and hiking which is one of the reasons we moved here to beautiful Colorado. Finally, one of the most important things that I believe directs everything I do is my faith; I am heavily involved in teaching in the children's ministry in my church. I have a deep desire to impact the future generation.
