I have been a Cosmetologist for 14 years and a Barber for 6 1/2 years. I was born and raised in Colorado, interrupted by a short move to California with my family, although I couldn't wait to move back to my home state. I began instructing at IBMC to kick off the new barbering program. I am passionate about my craft and decided I need to share that passion with eager minds. I love what I do and I love how rewarding it is to see the students succeed.

To future students: We have fun in my classroom, but I expect professionalism and completed assignments nonetheless. I am an instructor that is that is here to guide you and remind you that working hard now will pay off in the end. In collaboration with my students, together we conquer the classroom. “You can’t cheat the grind, it knows how much you have invested, it won’t give you anything you haven’t worked for.”-Anonymous An education from IBMC's medical assistant program was a springboard toward boundless opportunities and it is with great pleasure I guide you through a similar path. It is up to you, to take an opportunity to change your life; see you in class.

Upon serving individuals in best practices of management/leadership, organizational professionalism and character education as a company district manager and a career readiness instructor, I was invited to teach at a local career education college in Denver. I’ve always valued the field of education and the ability to equip people to fulfill their career goals. I have been doing this as an independent career coach/consultant for 20+ years and within the last several years for students at IBMC College. I encourage and inspire students by first getting to know them personally and being excited about their career paths. This is, for me, both a privilege and an honor to see each student become the career professional they desire to be; partnering with each one and coming alongside them as one of their biggest fans in the process. You may not know: I thoroughly love horses and horseback riding, racquetball, bicycling, air hockey and the arts. Additionally, I serve in a lay pastor ministry for youth, young adults, homeless and jobless individuals. My faith is at the heart of who I seek to be; directing my impact in relationships for the greater good of all I may know and serve.

Over the years, I started to love teaching Medical Assistant externs when they come through our office. I enjoy being able to motivate them and encourage them. I feel that bringing my experience of working in the field into the classroom really helps the students get a better knowledge of what to expect when leaving the classroom. Outside of my regular MA job and teaching I love spending time with my kiddos, boyfriend and fur/feather babies!

I think my students are motivated by seeing my success as a graduate and that if you work hard and apply the things that you learn here at IBMC you can accomplish your dreams. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling with my husband, and we are big into cruising. This is the second time that I have worked for IBMC. Originally I worked for IBMC when they first opened the Cheyenne Campus. I had the privilege of assisting in setting up the original campus in there. After about 4 years but came back to the campus and it was like coming home. My long term goal was to be a teacher. As a RN, you are always teaching patients and while that is very satisfying you do not get to see that "Ah-hah" moment when everything comes together. I wanted and still want to see that moment when everything comes together for the student. That is more rewarding than words can describe. In my spare time, I really enjoy reading, nothing is better than a good book. I am also picking up sewing again because I have always found it so relaxing.

While practicing law in Santa Rosa, California, I started working as a Dean and English instructor at a career college. I came to the realization my passion was in education and after returning to Colorado in 1999 I responded to a newspaper ad for a Business Program Supervisor at IBMC Fort Collins. And lo and behold began my adventure with IBMC. You may not know: That I compete in long distance motorcycle adventures -- for example: 48 states in less than 10 days, 1500 miles in less than 24 hours. I am also a Corvette fanatic and currently have a 2003 red, red, red, C5 Z06. I collect hand-coiled Pueblo pottery from the southwest, and my wife and I enjoy trips to Santa Fe to add to the collection and to visit their great restaurants.

I have had extensive experience with business and computers while serving 20 years as a member of the Air Force. Although I enjoyed working with computers, I wanted the opportunity to help individuals bring about a wonderful change to their life and family. I felt that IBMC provided me the best opportunity to use my passion, teaching, and my desire to make a difference in this world and apply it in a setting that is personal and caring. I believe that to motivate my students I must first get to know them as they attend my classes. It is crucial to help each of them understand that they are not just a number, but a complex and interesting individual who has made the most important, difficult and exciting decision of their life, one that will bring about a wonderful change to them and their families. You may not know: That I love just about anything outdoors. I have climbed 5 Fourteeners, have been part of a team of 10 who ran the 200 mile Wild West Relay, ran the 6.6 mile Bolder Boulder in 54 minutes and the Garden of the Gods and have done a triathlon. I also love fishing, camping and hiking which is one of the reasons we moved here to beautiful Colorado. Finally, one of the most important things that I believe directs everything I do is my faith; I am heavily involved in teaching in the children's ministry in my church. I have a deep desire to impact the future generation.
