What Makes IBMC Different from Community College?

Where Community Colleges often offer a broad education, IBMC College focuses on practical training and highly specific career-ready skills. IBMC College programs are designed for students who want to enter the workforce quickly. IBMC Colleges are smaller than most Community Colleges. Students at IBMC may receive more personal attention and individual support than students at larger institutions.

Some Key Features of IBMC College vs a Typical Community College

  • Smaller Class Size
  • More Personalized Support
  • Shorter Programs (5-19 Months*)
  • Focus on Career Specific Training
  • The classes you need, when you need them — no waitlists or “course not offered this term” delays
  • A clear, set program schedule so you can finish on time when you complete the program as designed

No Waiting. No Delays. Our programs are designed to keep you moving, so you can complete your training and graduate on time.

The IBMC Paralegal, Medical Assisting and Dental Assisting programs include on-the-job training through an externship in a professional work setting. Medical Assisting and Dental Assisting students also learn hands-on in practical lab settings on campus while Massage, Cosmetology, Esthetics and Barbering students treat real clients, under the guidance of instructors, in IBMC’s onsite clinic and salon.

Community College can be a good choice for individuals who may want to transfer to a 4-year University or who are less sure of exactly what field they want to pursue. IBMC College is a strong fit for individuals who want shorter-term, career-focused education taught through hands-on learning and practical experience.

Do you have a steady hand, an eye for hair design, and would like to help others look their best?

Alexandra Mondragon Banuelos, Medical Assisting Program Graduate - Longmont Campus 2025
Right now I'm a medical assistant. I am working at MBI right now. Before IBMC I just graduated from high school and I was doing a break before doing what I wanted to do, and I knew I wanted to go into the medical field somehow. So I was like, you know what? A good start to that would be becoming a medical assistant. My favorite part of the program was for sure the how much hands-on we had. I liked how quick it was and how efficient it was. Like I felt like the more hands-on I did, the more I would understand what I was doing. Words of advice would really be, enjoy your time, take your time with your things, and just honestly have fun with it. Shout out to myself for doing it and my friends and my family out there.
Mariah Kitzman, Esthetician Program Graduate - Longmont Campus 2024
I think it’s cool that the makeup industry can’t really ever die out. So you can always meet really cool people that way. What would I say to somebody considering enrolling at IBMC? Do it. Just do it. Honestly, the teachers and especially Mary—she always just made sure that I had everything that I needed and helped me accommodate anyway I needed.
Yathziry Cordova, Cosmetology Program Graduate - Longmont Campus 2024
I am starting my own business in Lash Extensions. Just expanding my business more and branching out to do more facials and specialize more in chemical peels and Lash Extensions. Honestly, it's a great program. You get to meet lifelong friends that I'm currently here with. And I don't think that I'll ever stop being friends with them and you honestly learn so much about the industry without even realizing it and you're a lot more prepared at the end of it than you think you are.
Marzelina Cisnero-Ruiz, Cosmetology Program Graduate - Greeley Campus 2024
My mother inspired me to do cosmetology. She always knew how to make everybody feel beautiful in their own skin and their own hair and I want to be part of that. I'm looking forward to digging deeper into working with ethnic hair and that hair community. So, it's super exciting and super fun.
Makenzie Hall, Cosmetology Program Graduate - Greeley Campus 2024
I’m starting my booth rent; I just got my station all set up. I’m going to do my state boards and then get to work in and I’m super duper excited. Jesse and Dustin were by far amazing; they taught me everything I know out on the floor. They made every day so much fun and morning lessons and everything that they taught us. My advice to somebody who’s considering enrolling: be on time, come prepared, and then try and learn something new every single day and work hard and it all pays off in the end.
Llaneli Barajas Duran, Cosmetology Program Graduate - Greeley Campus 2024
I've had a great experience at IBMC. My favorite instructor was Jesse and Dustin. They taught me a lot with hair and highlights. I want to build my own business and do nails.
Jordan Tajchman, Cosmetology Program Graduate - Longmont Campus 2024
I'm looking forward to working in my own space and being in charge of my business and my clientele. My favorite class was probably color. I think that color and also skin and nails have really become my strong suit and what I'm looking forward to doing. It's definitely a great experience and you learn a lot.
Nikki Vargus, Barbering Program Graduate - Greeley Campus 2025
My name is Nikki, I’ve graduated from Barbering School! My favorite thing from school was meeting all the new people and learning all different type of techniques. I am looking forward to working at a barber shop and hopefully opening a barber shop of my own.
Jason Kneiszler, Barbering Program Graduate - Greeley Campus 2024
My favorite class is learning all the chemical processes with coloring and lightening hair and things like that. What would I say to a student who's considering enrolling? Be on your A-game. That's it. It was definitely worth it. It was kind of almost like all the lessons I learned besides hair cutting and besides the sanitation procedures and things like that. You know, how to take constructive criticism, active listening, sharpened up my communication skills a lot better. Yeah, it was definitely worth it.
Amanda McDaniel, Medical Assistant Graduate - Fort Collins Campus 2024
I am Amanda McDaniel and I graduated from Medical Assistant. I actually currently work over at Summitstone and Behavioral Health. I work at Aiman Wellness, which is with the probation department… I have 80 patients right now. I love them all. I just want them to succeed and not go back in the area that they're at right now... I am so happy I did this.
