Do you have a steady hand, an eye for hair design, and would like to help others look their best? If so, perhaps you should consider a career as a professional barber.

As grooming trends have changed, the demand for skilled barbers is on the increase. Modern barbers need a variety of skills to be successful. As a professional barber, you will need to use your creativity and customer service skills to deliver the perfect cut, shave or trim to ensure your clients feel their best — making them more likely to become return customers.

At IBMC College, you’ll receive hands-on training in everything from precision haircutting, color and texture to skincare, shaving and grooming, plus the personal and business skills you need to build a career.

In any given day, barbers typically do the following:

  • Inspect and analyze hair, skin, and scalp to recommend treatment
  • Discuss hairstyle options
  • Wash, color, lighten, and condition hair
  • Cut, dry, and style hair
  • Beard and mustache trimming
  • Clean and disinfect all tools and work areas
