What to Expect as a Student
Dental Office Administration students are trained in administrative, business and clinical procedures. The degree program offers training in dental assisting techniques, dental sciences, dental materials, dental radiography, specialty practices, and office management.
You will also learn business and accounting skills and take general education classes to ensure solid administration knowledge is gained for success in the dental field. With a focus on practical career-training skills, our goal is to help students get the most out of personal attention and hands-on learning. You will learn from experienced instructors, who are dental professionals.
Upon completion of your program you will receive, or be eligible to sit for the following certifications:
- Nationally Registered Dental Assistant (RDA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
Students in this dental degree program are taught to ensure that day-to-day dental office operations are run efficiently and effectively
Externships & Career Opportunities
Students will complete a 5-week externship at the end of their program. An externship is your opportunity to use your learned skills while working in a dental office, a specialty practice office, or other healthcare setting as a part of your training at IBMC College.
Similar to an internship, you’ll be treated as a regular employee of the company, and your employer will evaluate your work for college credit. That means you’ll be able to put industry work experience on your resume — even before you graduate. Often, IBMC College students are even hired on as full-time employees after completing their externships.
Dental careers are on the rise and qualified Dental Assistants are in high demand. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Dental Assistant jobs are expected to grow by 19% through 2026.**
As a Dental Office Administrator, you may be employed by:

- Public healthcare facility
- Oral care office, school, or hospital
- Specialty practices, such as oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, dentofacial orthopedics, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
