The Institute of Business & Medical Careers of Greeley Invites the Media to Attend a Tour of the IBMC Campus With Congressman Cory Gardner and Don Lefeve, Director of Government Relations for the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities, This Coming Wednesday
Greeley, CO (September 24, 2012): The Institute of Business & Medical Careers will welcome Congressman Cory Gardner and Don Lefeve, Director of Government Relations of the Association Private Sectors Colleges and Universities (APSCU), to the IBMC Greeley campus on Wednesday, September 26th, where they, alongside members of the media, will receive a tour of the campus, beginning at 3pm.
During the tour, Congressman Cory Gardner and Mr. Lefeve will hear from IBMC Business, Medical, Legal and Massage Program graduates and students. In addition, they will speak with key staff personnel and members of the press during this scheduled one hour campus visit.
Congressman Gardner has been a leading conservative voice in Colorado where he served in the state legislature for five years prior to being elected to Congress to represent the state’s 4th Congressional District.
During his tenure in the Colorado General Assembly, Gardner created the Colorado Clean Energy Authority, which brought millions of dollars of economic development to the state. He brought high-tech telemedicine to rural communities and was a strong voice for rural families and small businesses.
Private sector colleges and universities equip millions of students from diverse social and economic backgrounds with access to career-focused learning and the job skills they need for a successful future in the 21st Century workforce.
With 13 million unemployed and 90 million undereducated, the United States clearly has work ahead on the jobs and economic front—a key component of which involves increasing the number of Americans with post-secondary education to fill jobs requiring skilled workers. If the U.S. is to achieve the projected need for eight to 23 million additional educated workers over the next decade, private sector colleges and universities will have to play a vital role of continuing to provide skills-based educational opportunities, particularly to non-traditional students.
Millions of graduates of these career-focused institutions, ranging from veterans to working mothers, are securing quality, well-paying jobs, making important contributions to our global economy, and earning a better life for their families. Private sector schools remain one of the most highly regulated sectors in all of higher education—yet they continue to innovate and to invest in building capacity to effectively educate a workforce that will enhance U.S. competitiveness, and ultimately, our nation’s bottom line.
