IBMC College in Greeley “Marches On” to Benefit March of Dimes
Staff at IBMC College in Greeley pull together to support the March of Dimes fundraiser, March for Babies, on Saturday, April 27, 2013.
At Bittersweet Park this past Saturday, fourteen IBMC College employees, one spouse, three children and two dogs took to the streets to “march on” in support of March for Babies, an annual walking fundraiser hosted by March of Dimes. With an original fundraising goal of $500, the IBMC team was elated to surpass that goal and raise a total of $722!
As stated on the March for Babies website, the purpose of the fundraiser is to give hope to the more than half a million babies born too soon each year. The money raised supports programs that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. And it funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten the lives of babies. The walk began in 1970, and in its duration, an incredible $2 billion has been raised to benefit all babies.
IBMC College’s participation in this year’s event was spearheaded by Marcia Andersen, who has experienced the support of March of Dimes firsthand.
“I became aware of the March of Dimes while I was in the NICU at Children’s Hospital with my son. They support and help families that are dealing with premature and critically ill babies. The reason I wanted to participate in the March for Babies fundraiser is to make people more aware of what they do and how they help,” said Marcia.
The IBMC March for Babies team had a great time participating in this event and is thankful to all of those who contributed their time and donated to this great cause!
