IBMC College Cosmetology students beautify nursing home residents for their “Senior Prom”
GREELEY, Co. – IBMC College Cosmetology students and staff volunteered their time and talent to assist in preparing nursing home residents of Life Care Center of Greeley for their “Senior Prom” Friday, April 27.
About 12 students and a supervising instructor from IBMC College’s Greeley campus at 2863 35th Ave. visited the facility from 3-4:30 p.m., pampering many of the residents with a range of beauty treatments, from nail care to hair styling and beard trimming.
Men and women of Life Care Center were excited to chat with IBMC’s young Cosmetology students and receive free-of-charge services. Several women opted to style their hair in classic 1940s and ‘50s styles with ribbons and curls.
The event, which featured live music and dancing, was one of many frequent events that Activities Director Blair Reynolds organizes for residents. It gave them an opportunity to let loose, dance and reminisce on their past dance experiences.
It was the first time IBMC College’s Cosmetology students and staff have visited Life Care Center, but Instructor Kathleen Bradshaw says students and staff would happily return in the future for another event at Life Care Center.
