IBMC College Caring Team and Project Linus Provide Comfort to Area Kids
Staff and faculty members of IBMC College are preparing to create over 100 blankets to distribute through Project Linus, an organization that serves children facing illness, trauma or crisis. 
IBMC College Caring Team is collaborating with Project Linus to provide comfort to area kids by bringing together staff members on February 20th from the Fort Collins, Greeley, Longmont, CO and Cheyenne, WY campuses for a potluck and day of blanket making.
Project Linus is a national nonprofit, which provides love, a sense of security and warmth in the form of a new, handmade blanket to those kids who are sick, in a crisis, homeless and in need.

IBMC staff of “blanketeers” will create over 100 blankets to take to local to drop off locations, who are affiliate, volunteer partners of Project Linus, including the listings below. From the drop off points, the blankets will be distributed to area hospitals, youth organizations and schools.

Project Linus was born by Karen Loucks, who was inspired by an article titled “Joy to the World” in Parade Magazine on Christmas Eve, detailing the struggle of a three year old girl, Laura, battling cancer and two years of tremendous pain from chemotherapy treatments. Her special “blankie” was the one thing that provided her comfort through such a horrendous experience. Inspired by the article, Loucks decided to provide homemade security blankets to Denver’s Rocky Mountain Children’s Cancer Center. From there, Project Linus was created. Since 1998, over 5 million blankets have been distributed.
