Longmont College Hires Experienced Medical Assisting Instructors
Jan Van Ausdall and Pamela Smith join IBMC College as Adjunct Instructors, educating students in the School of Allied Health Careers.
Jan Van Ausdall, recently hired as an Adjunct Medical Instructor, began working in the medical field as a Phlebotomist in 1983. From 1994 to 2001, she worked for Oakwood Urology as a Medical Assistant and Lab Technician, where she assisted with surgical procedures and injections, ordered supplies and scheduled procedures.
In 2002, Van Ausdall began working as a Medical Instructor at College America. In this role, she taught drug administration, pharmacology, clinical skills and phlebotomy. Additionally, she was an on-site OSHA trainer. She resumed working as a Medical Assistant in 2010, when she was hired by the University of Colorado Family Practice. Currently, she continues to work as a Medical Assistant for Banner Nurse-Midwives. Her extensive work history, wealth of knowledge and past experience teaching adult learners makes her an ideal candidate for the position of adjunct instructor at IBMC College.
Pamela Smith has also been hired to the position of Adjunct Medical Instructor. Smith is an enthusiastic Registered Nurse with excellent people skills. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated excellent medical procedure competency.
From 1999 to 2006, Smith was the Program Director at Front Range Community College. Turning her passion for helping others into a career, she became an In-Patient Hospice Nurse at Hospice of Larimer County in 2006, where she worked for the next year. In 2008, Smith began working as a Wound Nurse, a position she held until 2011, when she decided to return to teaching at Aims Community College. In addition to teaching, she has been employed as a Staff Nurse at Good Samaritan Society since 2011.
Smith brings real-world work experience and a varied medical background to the classroom, allowing students to learn an array of skills from her teachings.
