The Pharmacy Technician often takes on a central role in the preparation and delivery of drug products and acts as a liaison between the doctor, the pharmacist and the patient. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will work closely with the pharmacist in a variety of tasks involving prescriptions including the packaging and distribution of medicines, technical assistance, and clerical duties.

WHAT TO EXPECT AS A STUDENT

Pharmacy Technician students are trained in both administrative and clinical procedures. You will learn about working in a pharmacy, pharmacology, compounding, insurance and billing, as well as pharmacy management.

With a focus on practical career-training skills, our goal is to help students get the most out of personal attention and hands-on learning. You will learn from experienced instructors, who are pharmacy professionals.

Upon completion of your program you will be eligible to sit for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Exam through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) as well as apply for certification with the State of Colorado.

EXTERNSHIPS & CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Externships
Students will complete a 160-hour externship at the end of their program. An externship is your opportunity to use your learned skills while working in a pharmacy, or other healthcare setting as a part of your training at IBMC College.

As an Extern, you’ll be treated as a regular employee of the company, and your employer will evaluate your work for college credit. That means you’ll be able to put industry work experience on your resume — even before you graduate. Often, IBMC College students are even hired on as full-time employees after completing their externships.
