Student Spotlight: Vanessa Medina, Medical Assisting Student

IBMC College in Greeley recognizes student achievement every 10 weeks at our Student Appreciation Assemblies. Those students that demonstrate excellence in their classes and exhibit an overall  passion for their future career opportunities. At the last assembly, Vanessa Medina, a student in the Medical Assisting program, was named Student of the Quarter for the evening class session.

The Student of the Quarter recipient is elected by peers. The recipient of this award has a positive attitude, influences others to do well, perseveres through difficult times and achieves exceptional grades.

Here’s how Vanessa Medina answered our Student Spotlight questionnaire:

1)      What was the main factor that motivated you to attend IBMC College? What program are you enrolled in? I want to be someone in life and I wanted have an education. I am in the Medical Assisting program.

2)      What is the one thing you enjoy most about being a student at IBMC? The staff and the teachers. I love how they are all so friendly and helpful.

3)      Student of the Quarter is nominated by peers. What do you do to inspire your fellow classmates? I help them with homework and I help them study. A few of us have a study group and we study at my house before a test to help each other.

4)      Who inspires YOU? Teresa (Teri) Trujillo, Medical Assisting instructor. She knows how much I want to be like her!

5)      Describe IBMC in 5 words or less. Friendly, fast-paced, wonderful school!

6)     What was the last movie you watched? Fools Rush In with my husband.

7)     What is one zany/crazy fact about yourself that most students would not know? Secret talents, have you ever been on TV, etc? I may look brave when I try new things, but I’m terrified sometimes. I don’t like to try something that might not work out. I like being the best that I can be at everything I do.
