Christina Brunner Trains Students for Rewarding Medical Assisting Careers

IBMC College in Greeley, CO welcomes Christina Brunner, newest Medical Assisting Adjunct Faculty member, in the School of Allied Healthcare Careers.

Christina Brunner, a Certified Medial Assisting Supervisor, with 10+ years of experience in a community health practice, has joined the Medical Assisting program training staff at IBMC College in Greeley, where she has been hired in the role of Adjunct Instructor.

In the hands-on Medical Assisting Degree and diploma programs at the Greeley campus, Brunner will prepare students for medical assisting careers and healthcare-related occupations.  In the coursework, students will learn both front and back-office medical assisting procedures.

In addition, individuals will be taught suture remove, how to measure vital signs, draw blood and give injections, prepare lab specimens, learn to cast broken limbs and sterilize equipment.

Before working as an Adjunct Medical Assisting Instructor at IBMC College, Brunner began as a Medical Assistant at Sunrise Monfort Family Clinic’s Clinic from 2002 to the present, and has been serving as a Pod Supervisor since 2007.  In her two positions at this company, she has dealt with coaching MA graduates, ordering inventory, following protocol for urine analysis, finger sticks, peak flows, phlebotomy and pulse ox.

In addition, she helped with auditing patient charts for financial screenings and collection of co-pays, navigated through Electronic Health records and systems and worked with patient triage and critical care techniques.

Brunner received her Associates of Occupational Studies Medical Assisting Diploma from IBMC College in 2002.  She completed Mental Health First Aid Training at North Range Behavioral Health in 2008, a 12-month Supervision Certificate Program in 2009 from Mountain States Employers Council, Inc. in 2009, the Leadership Program at Colorado Center for Nursing in 2012 and Coaching Program in 2013 and the courses in Medical Records Law in Colorado from Lorman Educational Services in 2014.
